EVEN if GMA 7 seems to have cool off on Jennylyn Mercado, the teen star isn’t entirely jobless. She is winding up her scenes in Bong Revilla’s festival movie Resiklo, with a few days of shooting left. Another movie is coming up.
She is the lead star of Adolfo Alix Jr.’s movie Nars, a movie on the last two years of the education of nurses, the board exams (which became controversial lately) and landing a job.
Scriptwriter Agnes de Guzman delves deep into her theme, giving us an insight on the preparation for the profession. Carl Balita, a DZMM anchor on its business program and owner of a nursing review center is the executive producer of Nars, with his good friend, actor-educator-businessman Carlo Maceda as line producer.
With the script ready and assistant director Arman Reyes breaking it down to scenes, Adolf is getting ready to start his principal photography on Sept. 19.
The cast has to be completed yet but already in with Jennylyn are Andrew Wolfe, Bianca King, Rainier Castillo, Agot Isidro, Jaclyn Jose and Allan Paule. Right now, they talk to the other stars and managers to complete their cast and between now and Sept. 19, there’s a location hunting to do.
Of course, they need stars who are available and "makakapag-shoot nang tuluy-tuloy." You see, they are aspiring to have a premiere night for Nars on October 22, which is Nurses Day.

An insider admits that Adolf had second thoughts in getting Rainier Castillo for the role of Noel, best friend of Ella (Jennylyn Mercado).
"Baka kasi tanggihan ni Rainier ang role ng gay in the movie," our source tells us. "It turned out easier than we think. Natawa pa nga si Rainier, dahil tila uso ang role na ‘yan ngayon. Ayon sa kanya, it would be a challenge sa kanya."
Rainier even insisted that he has some gay friends in showbiz to be his acting models and he really welcomes the role for a change.
